New NASCAR Title Coming from Eutechnyx
I just read at virtualr.net that a new NASCAR title will be released sometime next year from Eutechnyx. What I´m not sure is how well the title will do and how good can it be as the same guy who was in-charge of the old EA failure has been hired to oversee this title!

Well the guy you were talking about worked there for EA through 01-03 and thats when they made awesome NASCAR games like NASCAR Thunder 03 and 04. Those two games I've listed have amazing career modes. I actully just bought Thunder 04 from Amazon. So hopefully he can make a good game with a good career mode because EA last few NASCAR games have had really bad career modes.

I was looking at Ed's resume and based on what I can tell he either had a part in the following games, or was atleast at the company when said games where made.
NASCAR Racing
IndyCar Racing II
Road Rash (3DO version co-Developed with Buzz Puppet so he may have done nothing)
NASCAR Racing for the Sony Playstation
NASCAR Racing 2
NASCAR Grand National Series Expansion Pack
SODA Off-Road Racing
NASCAR Heat (possibly, it was developed by a 3rd party, but published by Hasbro when he was there)
Daytona USA 2001 (was Japanese developed so maybe he had nothing to do with the American port)
NASCAR Thunder 2002
NASCAR Thunder 2003
NASCAR Thunder 2004
I'm sure he'll be a great addition to the Eutechnyx team.

Former Eutechnyx employee/sub-contractor?:
The physics and damage model were progressing nicely when I last worked with them, graphically its very nice on the 360 and PS3 as well, whilst its not going to be a hardcore sim I think it should offer some decent gameplay that any racing fan can have some fun with.

So looks like we might get an official announcement in two weeks. I don't know why they just don't make it as soon as they can since we all know there making the game now.Taking a week off to enjoy the calm before the storm.. Alpha is almost upon us on the most exciting project of the year.

No offical word has be said by Eutechnyx so this is all speculation. There will be alot of disapointed people if this all turns out to be rumor.

Also I feel adding the Canadian Series & Mexican Series will help the game sell more copies because more people in those two countries would more then likely be more willing to buy a game that features their regional NASCAR series it in. The same can be said for the other NASCAR series that don't make up the "Top 3", not only would it give a true representation of NASCAR & allow players to work their way up the ladder in Career mode, but people who may not normally buy NASCAR games would be more likely to buy it if their local track or "their brothers father-in-law" who races in the east series could be in the game, etc...

I'm very excited to hear that there is or may be Nascar game coming out. I hope it is true! I don't want to tell anyone how to make a game, but here's why I think EA failed.
1.) Tried to make it more complex than it needed to be.
2.) Wasn't made for all people to play and be competitive online.
3.) Online play for 09 was not much better than nascar 08.
4.) I felt they weren't as committed to Nascar 09 game as other franchise games they have.
What I think would make a good Nascar game.
1.) dedicated server
2.) 16 or more players online
3.) Simulated setups for advanced drivers
4.) locked setup rooms for online racing - Game has a setup for every track and is locked so there can be no changes made. (would be for all players able to play the game online that can't setup a car.)
5.) Online league setup. Make your points, Damage, Flags, Race Length, weather and Breakdowns
6.) Only in game paint schemes.
7.) Online Caution replays - only lobby leader can skip
Here's what would be great for everybody to play online (user friendly)-
Locked Setup Room online
When you pit, your options would be like this-
Fuel Options - Splash, .5, 1 can, 1.5, 2 cans
Tires - Left Side, Right Side, All Four
Now I would have 3 bar graphs for loose and tight- adjust left for loose and right tight on each graph.
1st bar - Corner entry
2nd bar - Middle of corner
3rd bar - Exit of corner
Here's something else I would do.
I made this game, I would not come out with a new one the following year. I would wait 3-5yrs. Why?
plenty of time to get the first one right and learn from mistakes.
I would work on the online play to get it as good as possible as I could.
Once everything is running smooth I would give out car, driver, sponsor and track packs through the Microsoft points system. (Especially at the start of the Nascar season or soon there after.)
I feel that I would find the pro's and con's of this idea, everybody would by the packs to get the driver changes etc.
I'm not trying to tell anyone how or what to do, I've ran leagues in nascar on Xbox 360 and have found that the above mentioned is what alot of people online would like to see in and out of my league's.
If I could make the game I would, but all I can do is give my ideas.

What I meant was custom car setups for those who are good at car setups and the bar graph for those who don't want to or don't know how to setup cars. The bar graph would actually simulate the driver telling the crew chief what changes he or she needs done to the car. So in all reality this is exactly what happens in a real race and is what would be perfect for people who just want to race and not setup cars for hours.
This makes the game playable for everyone and would make it a more popular and easier game for everyone! You have to understand that not all people buy a NASCAR game to setup cars and be the fastest. Some just want to be competitive and have fun racing.
Best overall game for everyone would have custom setups and the bar graph options I mentioned.
This would be the ultimate seller in a Nascar counsel based game's with out a doubt in my mind if online racing rooms were able to lock out full setups for the ones who just want to have fun and race or let full setups be used for the race. Either way you have to be able to lock full setups on or off for this to work!
P.S. I'm not arguing with you, But I did say full setups earlier or custom as you said and then I went into what I would call ROOKIE setups or locked online races for all others who would like to just race and use the bar graph during the race. The rookie setup would be a good setup and you could tweak the handling during the race the way a real driver would. I'm all for Sim setups, but you have to think about the others that don't know or don't want to do setups. This is what needs to be done in order to make a NASCAR game playable for everyone.
